Description
Description
“I like to describe myself as a collector of magical moments,” he has explained. “My work is a combination of art & science. I’m exploring the space time continuum within a 2 dimensional still photograph. Time is something we’ve never been able to put our minds around, yet in a unique way these images begin to put a face on time.”
Stephen Wilkes has teamed up with 4D Brands International to launch a full puzzle collection of the Day to Night Series. With over forty epic images to come, you can expect to experience all the famous and historic places that Stephen has captured throughout his decade long project.
"I lived in London during my junior year of college, in 1979. I remember spending several weekends visiting Trafalgar Square. It has always been one of my favorite places in London. I decided it was an ideal location for my Day to Night™ series and began the process of gaining permission to photograph this iconic location. Once permission was granted, I scouted the area and built scaffolding in front of the National Portrait Gallery, giving me a centered, symmetrical view of the entire Square. The unique perspective allowed me to essentially see various levels of the park as if they were stages, each having their own distinct narrative. Every person featured in this photograph represents a specific moment captured from the early morning until night."
