Proof of Life is a collaborative conversation card game about death, grief, loss, and reflecting on what you love about life.
Official Rules:
The goal of Proof of Life is to play a set number of cards to assemble a circle with other players. The player who places the last answered or correct card that completes the circle wins the game.
Depending on the number of players your circle will need to be completed with the following number of cards:
One player- 8 cards
Two players- 8 cards
Three players- 10 cards
Four players- 12 cards
Set up:
Take a moment to locate anything youโd like to use for the create cards- we suggest a notebook, a journal, or a stack of colorful paper, along with pens, crayons, or markers- anything that best suits you that will enhance and personalize your Proof of Life experience.
You may also choose to set aside the create cards for when you want to play a longer game, either in solo mode or with other players.
2-4 players:
To begin:
Shuffle and deal out 7 cards to each player. The remainder of the deck can stay in the box within reach of all players.
The person whose birthday is closest to the current date begins the game by choosing any card in their hand to play.
Playing a card:
Three types of cards:
Question cards:
Direct the question card to one other player by reading it aloud and asking the question. You will then place the question card anywhere youโd like as you assemble your circle on the table.
Think cards:
You may play a think card by choosing any player to read it aloud to, and guessing how they would answer. If you guess correctly you will then place the think card anywhere youโd like as you assemble your circle on the table, if youโre wrong, discard the card into the discard pile without placing it on the table, and draw another new card from the deck.
Create cards:
When you play a create card with 2-4 players youโll have up to 5 minutes to follow the prompt on the card by sharing your answer aloud, or by drawing or writing. You will then place the create card anywhere youโd like as you assemble your circle on the table.
Always draw back up to 7 cards in your hand when playing by the official rules.
Play continues clockwise.
The player who places the final card, completing the circle of cards wins Proof of Life.
