Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest

The pieces are very well made, and the box insert is perfect for quick setups. The only thing I might knock is that when first unboxing, card decks are not separated by player colour. The Unboxing experience is fun but takes a long time.

Having no attachment to the original, I love the theme, artwork, and components of this game. I've only played at 2 but it's very fun! you do run into the occasional set of turns where both players have the same strategy, so we play the same cards for a few turns in a row, but it's still fun!

My gaming group and I have all been big fans of Libertalia for years, this new Winds of Galecrest version improves the game in pretty much everyway and its unanimous among us all. The number of variations available with the loot token modifiers and the new reputation system makes it one of our instant favorites. Highly recommend.

This is a fun and interactive game where we all are sky pirates seeking to plunder the most loot on each voyage. All players have 30 crew cards numbered from 1-30, each with a different ability, and on each voyage 6 of those cards are randomly chosen to take along. Each round every player chooses one of these cards and plays it face down, and then those cards are simultaneously revealed and placed on a track from lowest to highest. You then, again from lowest to highest, go through each card and activate any abilities that you can, and then from highest to lowest choose an available loot token. The thing that makes this game so good is that you take the same 6 cards as your opponents on each voyage so you know what cards they have. It becomes a guessing game of which of the 6 cards your opponents will play and which card you can play that will best take advantage of those played cards. Fun, often funny, and full of cheers when your strategy works, and groans when it doesn't. Very good game that you can play with your family or your more serious gamer friends.

If you are looking for a game that will live up your board game nights, this game should definitely be on your shortlist! It's fun, interactive, and unpredictable. Although the art style of the new edition is divisive, the production value of this game is incredible. Cannot recommend enough!
