Been playing this a lot lately. It's very light in terms of the rules. There are 8 different units, and some maps that have special spaces, which have only icons and no text, that show their special abilities, but after 1 play you would have them all memorized easily. Turns are simple - draw 2 tiles or put one out on the board to capture a territory, which must be free, or contains a weaker opponents piece. If you can capture territories in a way that chain a path from your base to your opponents then you win. An alternate way to win is by capturing territories to earn a number of stars (which is different for each map). The game has cute art and the maps look fun. The characters abilities have enough variety that you can come up with very clever and satisfying moves. 8 maps are included, which offers a good amount of variety. Setup is probably the most fiddly part of the game (ie. remove 4 of your tiles without looking, then shuffle the rest). Games are very short... about 3-10 mins long. Very easy to play multiple games in a short time. This game works well with younger kids too. A parent could play with their kid and actually have fun (unlike many mass-market games I have played!) Highly recommended if you like something to play with a person who doesn't play a lot of games, or is just starting out in the hobby. Also, if you like shorter, lighter games that still offer a good amount of strategy and tactics this would be a great choice. I wouldn't suggest this for experienced hobby enthusiasts UNLESS you are looking for a good filler-type game. I don't regret buying it, and it's been fun so far.
