I play this predominantly with my son (9). There have been only a few instances of clarifying card powers in the early games, after which the play has gone smoothly.
Overall, I consider this a great addition to my collection. The play is interesting, with lots of choices on your turn, 2 types of resources to manage, and a flood of opposing pieces, make for a great session.
