The Art and components of this boardgame are excellent. It attracts lots of non serious gamers to try. The complixity of the game play is moderate. It is one of the best boardgames for family.

This is a five star game. Only reason for the four stars is that my box was dinged up a bit on shipping in the corners and on top.

I offloaded my El Grande Big Box in favour of the New Edition and am very glad I did. The new edition cuts away all of the superfluous content in the Big Box and instead focuses on the core game which gave El Grande its Classic status.
The new edition is much more attractive than the original design and looks great on the table. Finally this game looks as good as it plays! A top 10 game of all time for me.
New edition looks way better, but box is way too big and oddly long shape.
