More complex then most roll and writes but worth the effort

This is the bar to reach in Roll & Writes.
I've been collecting more of these since they've been growing up.
This will be my biggest Roll & Write, and probably one of my bigger board games period that relies on interconnected actions.

Just three plays in, I'm really enjoying this game. The rule book is as large and detailed as the playing sheets--there's no getting around that this game takes some effort to learn--but both are very clearly laid out, and once you get going the game runs without confusion and surprisingly smoothly. I'm reminded a little of A Feast for Odin, in that the complication is in the quantity of available action options, not their individual operation. Once you've learned the 'board', and know that you won't be able to do even half of what's on offer in any given game, the game's initially intimidating look becomes its draw. The constant exchanging of meeples and resource bits, while frequent, is also part of the pleasure. All in all my favourite ___&write; looking forward to the PDF campaign!

One note on components: my copy arrived with one of the two pads printed too faintly, making it a bit difficult to read. The publisher promptly mailed a replacement at no charge--very satisfied with their customer care.

Practically zero player interaction so don't get this to play with friends. Excellent solo combo-generating roll and write. Variability is mostly generated by what path you choose to follow rather than the game generated randomization
