A nice and simple strategy game that has suprisingly more depth to it than what I initialy expected. The event cards can really be game changing. I wish their was more of those. Plus, the artstyle of the cards is very nice.

I offloaded my El Grande Big Box in favour of the New Edition and am very glad I did. The new edition cuts away all of the superfluous content in the Big Box and instead focuses on the core game which gave El Grande its Classic status.
The new edition is much more attractive than the original design and looks great on the table. Finally this game looks as good as it plays! A top 10 game of all time for me.
New edition looks way better, but box is way too big and oddly long shape.
