Zapotec is a wonderful middle weight game with an immersive decision space. The simple rule set and the combinatorial choices to me made is a very enjoyable struggle to optimize. Highly interactive where each player has tremendous agency. I rate it a 10 out of 10 for all around game play enjoyment.
We bring this along whether camping or heading to friends, it’s always a fun time when dexterity and balancing pieces are involved! The tin keeps everything together and the wood pieces and cards are good quality. Bought additional copies as gifts as it’s always a hit!
I’ve set it up on my coffee table as a permanent fixture incase the mood should strike. Fast easy game. Children catch on easily. NOTE the deluxe edition already comes with upgraded tokens for the Riddle of Sphinx expansion, do NOT buy them separately.
