A card game from the creators of Exploding Kittens.
Poetry for Neanderthals is a family-friendly party game similar to Taboo where players earn points by getting their teammates to guess words and phrases. The catch is that the "Neanderthal Poets" are only allowed to use single syllable words. If they use any words with more than one syllable, the other team gets to bop them with a 2-foot inflatable club. The team with the most points wins!
Be Prepared to continue talking in one word syllables well after the game is over.
This games was a lot of fun. I'm always on the look out for group games where people don't have to wait their turn, or if they do they are entertained while they wait. It's like a 'wacky' version of taboo. It's Quick to learn, I liked they way the used the cards and mat to keep score, and people asked to keep playing. We laughed at ourselves and each other.
2 things I will say is
1 - We played with 5 adults and I don't think I would bring the game out again if I had an uneven number of players, but it did work.
2 - I think for ages that would enjoy the game I would put it at 15+. Our 9 year old nephew dropped out after the first round, but maybe it was just not his thing.
It's light, silly, different, and fun. Brought to many get togethers with kids and without kids and all liked it. Perfect for ppl who like to play but complain about needing to learn rules!
