I dropped by the store for the first time to pick up a game. It’s nicely laid out and has a good selection of games. I plan to return the next time I’m looking for a board game. The prices are very good!
I probably got almost all of them, you name it...
When I saw that I miss the kickstarter of this game, I was dumbfunded... How can I have missed this thing...
First it is a Solo game series of Renegade, 2 reasons to go for it
2th : this is a John Leclair game - I have practilly all its important ones with several expansions Mystic Vale, Edge of Darkness...
3th it is a beautiful, elegant and very new uptake on the deckbuilding side... by example that the sleeved 3 parts card is composed of a light side and a dark side, that the hero side permits us great feat, but on the reverse side, there is the nemesis one and that comes with the growing threat... add to this that your deck comes back on the threat side, and that when you vainquish one, it comes back often with a when defeated effect, and directly in your hand so you have so much control of what you did on one turn.
Last, you do all your actions in a phase and you can buy some upgrade, add it directly to the next card you have in hand to ramp up the effect...
you have so much control over your actions and you have the limit of 3 per phase but the Unstoppable domino effect that applies with the When defeated, or in event or else, at the end it is no surprise that of all 3 permitted actions, you could play 6-7 or near 10 actions and subactionc of rippled effects... Awesome game and I am at first character and 1rst boss... there is plenty of space in the box so probably as with all Renegade game, more expansions to come and I wish so a Video port of it on Steam !
I am not a huge fan of brass Birmingham I acknowledge that it is a good game I just don’t have a lot of fun when I play it . Nucleum had a lot of similar mechanics to brass but I found I had more joy playing it than I would playing brass. There was more options to move around the board freely and I found the rail tiles gave a more engaging option than the cards in brass.
Overall a good game
