Up to two thousand pounds in weight and over ten feet tall, the bear is considered the biggest and heaviest terrestrial carnivore in the world. Of course, there is not just "one bear"; on the contrary, there are plenty of subspecies that differ from each other in various aspects. For instance, only the Kodiak bear (ursus arctos middendorffi) weighs about 2,000 lbs. The polar bear (ursus maritimus) weighs "only" 1,100 lbs., but gets much bigger than the Kodiak bear, being as much as 11 ft. tall!

Bärenpark takes you into the world of bears, challenging you to build your own bear park. Would you like another polar bear enclosure or rather a koala* house? The park visitors are sure to get hungry on their tour through the park, so build them places to eat! Whatever your choices are, make sure you get the next building permit and use your land wisely! (* No, koalas aren't bears but they're so cute, we couldn't leave them out of this game!)

In more detail, each player in Bärenpark builds their own bear park, attempting to make it as beautiful as they can, while also using every square meter possible. The park is created by combining polyomino tiles onto a grid, with players scoring for animal houses, outdoor areas, completed construction, and more. The sooner you build it, the better! Cover icons to get new tiles and park sections. The game ends as soon as one player has finished expanding their park, then players tally their points to see who has won.

Great gift!

I personally love Barenpark, but this was purchased as a gift for a family new to games. This was the besr choice as there are few rules (6 highly illustrated pages), friendly components, pleasant art, and despite being low complexity, there is enough strategic depth to keep the game interesting and engaging. The family I purchased this for was very grateful mentioning that it was a much better choice than the games they have been getting. This is the third game I have purchased for this family.

I am very familiar with a broad range of games. This is one of the better polyomino games. Similar games to compare that are about as good: planet unknown, and world wonders. Those two games are also quite enjoyable, but may be too complex for new to games families.

Similar games I would avoid: Isle of Cats and NY Zoo. While having animal theming and great art, these two games provide less engagement at a higher pricepoint making for a less favorable value proposition. I found Isle of Cats tedious and frustrating. NY Zoo felt very repetitive and I felt the animal tokens were redundant and unnecessary.

Excellent tile placement game

Barenpark's accessibility and short time to play are major reasons why I prefer it to other more complicated tile placement games. Solid fun without any brain burning complexity that can paralyze you from making moves.

Worth it!

One of my families favourites. We have isle of cats and New York Zoo. This still offers something different and definitely a must if you like these type of tile games.

Bear!

Love the theme and am a sucker for tile laying of any sort. Feel like it could use a bit more interaction other than tile selection, but that doesn't make it bad.

Great little version of gloomhaven!

I love Gloomhaven, but can't get a group together and solo it's too fiddly to be worth getting out. This version is set up played 1 round and back in box in less than an hour. It scratches that itch just right too.

De la poudre au yeux

Je me suis fait avoir par le hype. Pas certain que c'est mon type de jeux.
Ce que je peu en dire pour l’instant repose plus sur les composantes que l mécanique.
Le point faible des composante sont les cartes. Je comprend que le jeux est pas couteux mais quand meme, les cartes aurai mérite un grade supérieur. Elle sont courber et les jetons sont telement leger que ca cause probleme.

Sinon pour ce qui est de boardgamebliss. A1 comme d’habitude

Love these Metal Dice

I like the weight and roll I get from these dice. I used them mostly for counters with my Lorcana games.

Discordia: Magna

adds a nice little expansion without overwhelming the game.

Mythwind (standard edition) is amazing

I received my copy promptly from Board Game Bliss and have been playing ever since! I love the story, the variety of game play and of course the ability to stick and go quickly with all the characters, town boards and components. Because I have enjoyed it so much I have already gotten in on the Kickstarter for new the new content and premium components. Right now I am working through the characters and still have so much content to explore. The thing I like best is it is I can play it solo and not feel like I am missing out or having to manage a complex automa. I have not played it with anyone yet because I want to experience it all for myself first!
