The second game in the Escape the Dark series, Escape the Dark Sector is a simple, sci-fi adventure game with a focus on atmosphere, storytelling and player cooperation – perfect for newcomers to tabletop gaming. It takes about 2 minutes to set up, lasts around 45 minutes, and no two games are ever the same.

Playing as the beleaguered crew of an impounded starship, players find themselves confined to the detention block of a vast space station. Using a variety of advanced gear and weaponry, they will embark on a desperate mission to find their ship and blast their way home.

Along the way, the crew will have to overcome a variety of dangers, traps, and terrors. From cyborg guards and faulty replicators to killer alien organisms, each challenge is represented by a large, beautifully illustrated chapter card.

As these immersive chapter cards are revealed one by one, the game takes on the form of a shared storybook experience, with the players making decisions about what to do each chapter before using a combination of dice and item cards to complete the task before them.

The goal of the game is to complete every chapter, and then defeat the final boss. To win, you must keep each member of the crew alive; if any player is killed, the game ends immediately!

Friends and Family love this game!

I previously played Escape from the Dark Castle but I’m glad to have picked Escape from the Dark Sector as the first themeborne game I own. The ranged mechanic adds a lot on top of interesting options of the base game mechanic introduced in Escape from the Dark Castle. My friends and family have been loving playing this game and exploring the many scenario cards that get everyone involved in the high stakes escape! I can’t wait to play more so I can look into the expansions in the future :)

Enjoyable thematic dice chucker

I really liked this game. Good quality components. If you like a dark sci-fi theme that is not too over the top on the morbid scale, you will enjoy this game.

Overall a great game if played in spurts. Not hugely challenging but if you like black and white artwork and spooky but not blood slurpy dark themes, it's great.

It is pretty much a dice rolling/ dice chucker mechanic. So, if you aren't into that, this is game is probably not for you. Also, this is not a he you are going to have on the table multiple times a week for weeks on in. It's great to play a few times and then shelf and then get back out again after a while.

This is actually a great party game for a Halloween or Sci-fi night for a small group. Maybe play a few of this and then watch a classic black and white movie like the Wolfman or Bela Lugosi's Dracula.

Immersive fun!

I really appreciate the 80’s style and feel of this game. The black and white color scheme is great along with the quality production, and let’s not forget to mention the custom dice! The games are quick and overall a great time!
