I have played this once as a two-handed learning game, but I can say that the mechanisms work very well. Having played two other COIN games (Cuba Libre and Red Dust Rebellion), this game shares some of the same DNA but is much simpler to learn. The Sheriff has some advantages but is constrained by the number of actions he can take, e.g., he can move his henchman into a space with hidden Merry Men, thus revealing them, but he must then wait until the next turn to Capture them--giving the Robin Hood player a chance to move his or her Merry Men away from the threat or to get them to turn their coats and join them. The decisions are interesting and challenging but the game moves quickly which distinguishes it from most COIN games. This is a gem of a two-player game.
