Interesting social deduction game for varied player counts. I haven’t played this at all player counts yet, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it works with 4 players (it seems most games of this type require at least 5). Hollywood is very interesting in how it gives every player an individual turn to influence the outcome of the round, rather than just being a big argue-fest like some of these games tend to be. There is a good mix of strategy and chance, which makes it balance well. You are never 100% sure what is going on, even when you are PRETTY sure. I haven’t seen the Rising Star win a game yet, so that might be tougher than one of the teams winning, but it makes for an interesting challenge that, again, adds a lot of variability to the game. I think this is a great pick for people who like social deduction games but maybe aren’t as quick on their feet when it comes to lying (such as myself). If things aren’t going well, you can always blame the cards (“oh, that random card that got added ruined it!” or “my only options were the neutral card or communist ones!”). I personally love the theme, and I like that each player takes on a role that can have an interesting effect, but if you don’t like your job you can just switch it out, sacrificing some agency in this round for a better turn next time. Overall, very fun game!
