Irish Freedom is easy to play and has challenging situations and choices for both sides in each step of every turn. The slight change in rules and counters between the War of Independence game and Civil War game makes for an interesting yet smooth transition with the counters on the map at the end of the first game being the set up for the next. The two games can be played as one although either can be played on its own. While random events and random selections capture the chaos of such conflicts, each side can still develop strategies to win.
