I can’t say enough good things about this game!!
Many trick-takers revolve around the idea of bidding, and then taking the bid number of tricks, (and often exactly/only that number of tricks), with some offering a bonus if you take none, (or all) of the tricks.
As such, people who play a lot of trick-takers, over time, typically get pretty good at managing their hand of cards with the intent to take a few tricks as possible, and this game exploits that skill set completely, as their is no bidding, and everyone wants to take as few tricks as possible.
This makes a fantastic game of every trick being taken by someone who truly doesn’t want it, and some great depth of play and several layers of strategy to avoid taking tricks, (many of which only become apparent over a few rounds of play).
Also, with no “trump suit” and well designed cards that provide all the info you need to know while playing. . . This is an extremely easy game to teach and play, even with people unfamiliar with trick-takers. I have yet to play this game with someone who didn’t instantly enjoy it, and want to play a second game, immediately after the first.
Note: While most trick-taking games are designed for 4 (and sometimes play okay at 3), this is a rare game that really shines best at 5 and 6.
