Puzzle away the stress of the day with this stunning original work of art, hand-painted by children’s book illustrator Adam Parsons! In biology, any group of fish that stay together for social reasons are shoaling. Adam shares, “I wanted to paint something that a viewer’s eyes could dance around as they enjoyed the movement, the characters, and the colors. Shoal draws you in, as it asks nothing from you other than to marvel at the vitality of nature.” Gather your shoal, and happy puzzling!

About the Artist: Originally from England, Adam Parsons moved to Japan at age 19 to become an illustrator. A few years after winning “Best New Illustrator” in the Tokyo Museum, he moved again. He came to America in 1999, where he practically fell into the profession of graphic design. But fine art remained Adam’s passion. His work is often recognized for its meticulous detail, what Parsons refers to as “Being Bothered” — work which others could do if they kept at it, but often can’t be bothered with. This attention to detail is what Adam’s fans acknowledge bring many of his works to life. With works like Shoal to enjoy, we’re very glad he bothered!

Lovely tableau / engine builder, with elements reminiscent of Terraforming Mars or Wingspan. As with those other two, the design is elegant and smooth, with real-world concepts forming the back-bone of the appeal. The tree components are beautiful, but the natural photo-imagery is what makes the game pop visually.
Surprising how much of the original feeling they can pack into this small box. However the original Gloomhaven was only mediocre for me. I found it boring, repetitive and too fiddly for me. Unfortunately, after 5 scenarios of BnB, it’s more of the same in a smaller box. If you love the original Gloomhaven though, you’ll probably love this one too.
