The kids already had an enjoyed the original Unicorn Glitterluck: the Cloud Crystals. That is a great game for very young kids (3-5). This quasi-sequel aims for about the same age group, but it is cooperative (or a "team game" in our house). That fact alone makes it a better choice for teaching kids to play games. Players race around a map, taking turns and counting spaces. As a group, a certain number of crystals must be found. Each player has guests they must go invite, plus, if less than 4 players, some common guests that anyone can invite. This leads to great interaction when you discover someone else's guests, encouraging them to remember where they were. The memory element is minimal, but gives some excitement of discovery as everyone explores the map. In the end, it is very unlikely to lose the game, which is also a plus for the intended audience. All this with high quality HBA components, including chunky, pink acrylic crystals and wood pawns. A very good game for very young gamers!
